This canal dug in 1681 is an oasis of peace and has beautiful romantic spots on and along the sailing route. On the banks you can picnic in many places or visit a village.
The narrow, 240 km long canal connects the Atlantic with the Mediterranean and has been one of the twenty-five French heritage sites since 1996, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
You can rent a boat for 4, 6 or more people per hour or per day through the Office du Tourisme in Saint-Chinian and commercial rental companies. You do not need a navigation license and you will receive sufficient explanation for a safe trip and good boarding point.
