Carcassonne ( 65 min.)

The famous city of Carcassonne is world famous for its Cité, the elevated medieval city that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. The tip-top restored Cité is located at an altitude of 150 meters on the right bank of the Aude, just outside the 'present-day' Carcassonne. You can see the Pyrenees on the horizon.

Knight's games are held daily in the season. Children often find it beautiful. In the city there are numerous tourist shops and eateries, where you can buy souvenirs or something to eat.

Have you ever eaten cassoulet? This Pyrenean stew with beans and meat is a local specialty prepared in various varieties.

When you visit in high season, keep in mind that the fortress is one of France's top attractions. It is highly recommended to visit the city early in the day due to the crowds and warmth. A visit to Carcassonne is highly recommended, especially in the preseason and outside of the holiday season!
